I cannot believe that Buell isn’t making bikes anymore. I truly think they had the best bike on the road for true Motorcycling. Fun, affordable, forward thinking, and just awesome….. F’ Harley Davidson for snuffing them out. I personally will be buying that XB9SX I’ve wanted to years.
NO, NO, NO you can’t, you can’t close,! I’ve been saving for one for years! The money I use to buy cigarettes with goes in my buell can! I want to buy one next summer! I want it to be new! NO, NO, NO! Promise me Erik you’ll teach Harley how to make them! Sell them you’re jigs! Please! Please! I beg you!
Shame on HD, they did not have to kill the brand. I have always hated Harleys for the shit tin piles of crap they are, now my hate is reinforced by their piss poor business ethics. Just as I became interested in the Buells -being the 1125CR with its Rotax engine – HD go and kill it off. F-WITS!!!
Well the shoe fits. Your cool riding gear consists of what? A scull cap, some sunglasses, assless chaps and some Made in China shirts and boots? Oh yea, those cool vests with the HOG patches on them, forgot about that.
cant believe that harley would discontinue the one thing that they did right. they finally had something nice with the 1125r, mabye not the other buells but damn this could have been harleys chance to reach the sportbike world. sales would go up with time i mean how many american sportbikes are out there none just takes some time to reach ppl. this could have been the way to brigde the gap between harley vs sportbike. wtf were they thinking.
Buell’s already coming back! He will continue to build race bikes to start, and parts based on the 1125r (see the Buell site). It’s a start- let’s hope he continues this ambition to rebuild the entire company!
I would be crying too! I was discontinued from my Passionate Buell Specialist job for other reason after 1 year, 3months in California before this happened in August. He is back and passionate to keep the Buell brand and the True American sportbike/superbike alive with Erik Buell Racing! Long Live Buell and my Buell 1125CR!
I’m bothered by the comment about winning the 2009 AMA race – especially when talking about “against larger factory-backed teams”
Their team was factory-backed too. they were racing 600cc bikes. Bullshit by any viewpoint. Put anyone on a 1200cc bike against a rider of equal skill on a 600 & the outcome is obvious.
They should be ashamed they won only by .068
… and google “Buell recalls” there are some pretty scary mistakes coming out of the factory.
Poor. But i only really liked the S1 Lightning. That was DIVINE FURY, shouldn’t have changed the design. Oh well, another manufacturer will come along and break new ground like Erik did.
As a Buell owner (x2) I will NEVER BUY HD now. Always figured I get one when I’m old & want to start “sitting” on a motorcycle….
But now its VICTORY cruisers for me when I’m an old man. Its pretty obvious that VICTORY is a much better quality & performance cruiser than HD, & its American Made.
I just thought I would pass this on to all you buell suckers. All buell riding gear is being blown out at your local hd dealers. The dealers paid 90 % off of dealer cost. get this crap while its hot. The sooner its gone the sooner I don’t have to look at it.

Eric,
I hate to see go the Buell brand.
You made technically outstanding bikes, different from others and with lots of character.
You changed the motorcycle landscape and made it more interesting and beautifull!
Good luck to you!

yeah, can’t imagine any great performance engine with a pushrod can we……..
Maybe you should look into a little known sports car some people like to call the “Corvette”

With no hd ties, you don’t have a powerplant of parts for your beloved s2.
